Medical consumables, also known as medical supplies, are expendable devices and equipment used for diagnosis, treatment, health care and rehabilitation, and are disposable and frequent.

At the present stage, there is no uniform classification standard for medical consumables. Firstly, they are classified by the supervisors of small and medium-sized hospitals according to their work experience; secondly, they are classified according to the manufacturers' standard, which varies from factory to factory; thirdly, they are classified in accordance with the names of the registration certificates issued by the State Pharmaceutical Administration (SPA) and the local Pharmaceutical Administration (PA); and fourthly, they are classified by the supervisors of hospitals with reference to the classified catalogue of the State Pharmaceutical Administration (SPA) by concentrating all the registered names of the products together and adding their personal Fourthly, the hospital supervisors will focus on the registered names of all the products with reference to the classification catalogue of the State Drug Administration, together with the personal experience and the common name of the consumables by the clinicians, as well as the manufacturer's production name of the product, and then re-categorise and code all the products in a secondary way.
